The reason for the popularity is its durability. Another reason for its popularity is its versatility. The patterns that can be created using these are endless.

Designer mosaic tiles, nowadays, are the trend to create the desired mood and atmosphere in a particular place. Different types of tiles that have different characteristics are to be used according to the usage of the place. An area that will remain wet and damp need separate type of mosaic tiles and areas that are dry need another type of mosaic tiles. It is better to make sure of the dealer, who installs and guides in purchasing the mosaic tiles, is knowledgeable and is bent in choosing the right sort of tiles according to the usage.

Types of Designer Mosaic Tiles

Overall, we have three types of Designer Mosaic Tiles.They are
*    Non-Vitreous: These tiles are suitable for dry places. They have a tendency of absorbing high level of water and hence they are not for bathroom, kitchen and shower areas. There is a risk of mildew and mold growth if water seeps through them.
*    Semi Vitreous: These do not absorb water like vitreous but they do absorb water in less quantity.  They can be used as backsplashes in the kitchen, but not in shower areas.
*    Vitreous and Nonporous: These mosaic tiles are perfect for wet areas like bathrooms, shower areas and kitchen.
